Background: I just wrote this - I sort of liked it. I'm not sure why. Writing Fellows is my job - I tutor people and help them become better writers. Apart from that, I had to take an advanced writing course to teach us how to be good writing tutors. Jake said something that made me think. He said, "There's not much left of what we have of America." Although I agree with him, I refuse to believe all is lost. In the last few days I’ve been thinking about this country and what it means to be American particularly in the case of current immigrants. My first ancestor to come to America, Miles Standish, came on the Mayflower in 1620 as the Pilgrim’s military captain.
