I was looking through my old Naruto fics, trying to remember a story I was thinking about earlier in the day when I stumbled upon this fragment. I had completely forgotten about this story. The notes I had written and the fragments of the story in the notepad were all news to me. There is little chance that I will ever continue this. In fact, I'm not sure what possessed me to be interested in this topic in the first place.
In any case, I thought posting what little was up would be interesting. Perhaps someone will find it as interesting as I did when I rediscovered it. I must, however, warn the gentle reader that this story is very fragmented.
Title: Vixen
Fandom: Naruto
Summary: In a bid for freedom, Kyuubi attempts to seduce Naruto. But will Naruto fall to its wiles? Or will Kyuubi begin to lose itself to human emotion?
Characters: Kyuubi, Uzumaki Naruto
Genre: Drama, Romance, Adventure
Warnings: None
The Nine-Tailed Fox knew its fate. Trapped from one existence to another, it had developed a way for the unbearable emptiness to flow like mountain streams to the great ocean.
It hibernated. It used the great wrath that had pulled itself from the eight ways as a cloak, a cover to hide the slowly eroding mind within.
It had slept for a long time. It did not count the slight peeks of its consciousness wrapped in rage as truly awakening. In fact, it was a long way from true awakening.
Thousands of millenia of studies, but one misstep and the fox was chained to its fury. The fox might have laughed about its situation. If it did, it was a long time ago.
The fox didn't care. Not truly, anyway. It buried itself in numbness, in freezing its mind so that it didn't have to face the hell that it was sentenced to. Its escape was another sin, another falling off the path, but even if the fox had cared, it was too deep in the darkness to address it.
And so the fox might have drifted to eternity in its state of stagnant existence had not a mortal pulled so hard on its cloak of wrath that the fog that the fox had wrapped itself in began to lift.
It...did not want to wake up. But after its existence in darkness, it yearned to see the light that had given itself and its brethrens life. So the fox opened its eyes.
There was a human, one that had barely thrown off his adolescent shell to grow into his teenaged skin. But the form was shrouded in fury and hate, and the fox could barely make the boy out against the persona of wrath that the fox had hidden itself in.
It was surprised. The anger that had dragged it down all those years ago had not abated but grown in the absence of the fox's conscious mind. And a sliver of fear--yet another divergence from the true way--slipped into the fox as it realized it could not control that fury.
But then another presence appeared, penetrating the darkness. It was weak, but full of warmth, hope, and light. Before the fox could truly make out that form, it vanished, leaving the teenaged presence behind, along with that cloud of anger. Before the fox could tame that anger, the teenaged human vanished as well, though not as completely as the former presence. It was as if the teenager's scent permeated the world that the fox was trapped in. Most intriguing.
There was much that the fox did not understand about its situation. It did not know how much was lost to faulty memory, and how much was suppressed. But it did know that the first step to remedying this problem was to absorb that anger and hatred that had so turned the fox away from itself and tore it twain.
And so the fox opened its heart a little and remembered.

Sometimes, Naruto felt that his life was just a little too dramatic. He never seemed to be able to catch a break. Jiraiya died. He didn't even have time to properly grieve for the perverted old fart before he had to go save Konoha from oblivion. As if seeing his dead father and defeating a guy that was known as a god were not enough, now he had the problem of Danzo being an ambitious ass, and Sasuke being an ass-hole. Naruto barely had time to be properly emo. Really, was it too much to ask for a goddamned break?

"Oi, Kyuubi!"
"My name is 'Eri.'"
Here are my notes on this story:
kyuubi's fox friend died to save a human; friend was male; kyuubi's gender ambiguous; kyuubi decided to figure out why its friend did that by possessing a red haired, weak willed girl; kyuubi falls in love with a human; the human hears that the woman is possessed and uses kyuubi's feelings to trick it; the human did love kyuubi, but once he found the truth, he pretends to love kyuubi to lure it into a trap; in a fury, the kyuubi attempts to destroy everyone; the monk attempts to banish kyuubi from the woman's body; kyuubi is too strong to banish; the monk ends up sealing kyuubi within the woman's body; the woman was pregnant and gave birth to kushina's ancestor
Here are more detailed notes on the plot of the story itself:
start at pain's attack; when naruto draws upon the ninetail's power, the kyuubi will truly awaken the first time in 15 years; in the borderline between control and possession, naruto sees kyuubi; kyuubi starts a plan to seduce naruto whenever he dreams; kyuubi lends a sympathetic ear to naruto; perhaps love does not blossom, but something definitely does
in a moment of truth, kyuubi betrays naruto in exchange for its own freedom; betrayed, naruto attempts to fight his enemies alone; kyuubi runs through the forest, wishing to savor freedom, but haunted by a heavy heart that kyuubi itself does not fully understand, she returns for naruto; with her ferocity, she tears naruto's opponents into bloody shreds; perhaps naruto has not forgiven her yet, but something undefinable has bonded them more strongly than the seal could have
kyuubi's name is not kyuubi; her name is Eri (wise fox)
thousands of millenia of studies to attain enlightenment, but one misstep and the fox became chained to fury and anger.
