The reactions at the rest of the table when that came out were awesome - went from "Oooh, what did they get!?!" to ".... oh."

I envy you with the burning appetite of a thousand suns!

I am going to make it back there one of these years. This I swear.

You need to - it's been too many years since you guys were around to go with us!

I want to know at what level of omakase they fly Morimoto in personally to cook your food. I'd save up for that.

So do we! We actually wondered if 2 people getting a $300 omakase would be enough. Apparently it was enough to fly in crabs, but not enough to get Morimoto to bring them out to us.

I...I don't even know what to say to this. Except that I have found a life-altering reason to go to Philadelphia, and I've never had that before.

*laughs* Yeah, this is an atypical entry as an introduction to my journal :) The Morimoto trips started off years ago as "Hey, the Iron Chef has a restaurant in Philadelphia!" and has since progressed to food as an art form & seeing what the chefs there are able to do, which is feasible only because there's a good year and a half to two years between every visit, so we can save up for it & pretend to be rich for a night!

C and I have resolved that we shall go there someday. :)

Have you ever actually met Morimoto?

Sadly no. Well, erinmuse did at a book signing a few years ago, but we've never seen him at the restaurant at all. I've never been to the NYC Morimoto restaurant, but a few people in our group had been to that one and I don't think they'd seen him there either.

If you go, take pics! :)

We'll definitely take pictures! We're hoping for a North-Easterly trip sometime within the next two to three years. 2011 is our 10 year anniversary, so... :)
