9/11 Revisited

Sep 10, 2006 14:16

Claudia603's recent posting of her day's experiences on 9/11 and her thoughts inspired me to share my experiences that day. It was interesting, actually, to "re-live" it and a bit cathartic. Anyway, I decided to post my feelings and experiences here too. Would be interested in others' thoughts if you'd like to share.

Here is my story: )

I also remember how bizarre it was to stare up at the sky and know that no planes were in the air at all.

That *was* surreal! Planes take off from our airport and go right by our office window, and it was unnerving not seeing or hearing any planes go by for so many days.

Thank you for the reminder about American Airlines and what they lost that day. It's easy to forget things like that.

Thanks for your comment, SB. AA has been my airline for many, many years so I felt some comraderie with them. I remember so well talking with the quiet-spoken representative the next day and thinking how horrible they must have felt as a company--the incredible loss they sustained. Actually, too, my brother-in-law's sister was a AA flight attendant at the time so that gave us a bit of a fright but she didn't work those routes so we were fairly sure she was OK.

*hugs back* I think it was good to remember. I recall so clearly walking into the CEO's fancy office in a Montreal business suburb and the first thing he said to me was, "How could anyone do that?" I don't remember anything else about the interview...but I guess it went well, hehe.

Thanks for your "inspiration" to write it all out

One of those days when everyone will remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they discovered what happened.

Those were such devastating times! I couldn't believe what I saw on TV, and previously, when I left my office, my friends and I thought it was something that happened before that. (There was a similar thing before this, right?) So it shocked me a lot to see that it was just happening.

I was thinking how shocked those people were for it was early in the morning. For me it was night time already.

*HUGS you all*

They certainly were devastating times and I will never forget that day--which started very early in the morning for me. In answer to your question, yes, the WTC was attacked a few years before--with a bomb. So it had been a target for a long time.

Thanks, for the hugs, Shinta. (((hugs you back)))
