HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Dec 31, 2006 13:05

I've been away for two days--so sorry to have missed keeping up with everyone. But herein lies New Years' News!!!

NEWS!!! I had an all-day business meeting on Friday with my six-month clients in New Haven, CT and we finally came to an agreement about my taking a position with their new company. So, I guess I am employed as of tomorrow!!! Whew! Not a lot of money yet but I did negotiate some decent equity so if the company is successful over the next few years, it will be worth something considerable, I suspect. But at least I am in semi-reasonable shape for the time being and that is a big weight off my mind.

Spent yesterday with my friend, S, in the CT town where I used to live and got back late last night. No real plans for New Years Eve but that's OK. I am happy to relax here with Remy and try to plan how the year will go. Am expecting a lot more travel with business trips to Texas, Vancouver and India in the next two months. That will doubtless be interesting and exhausting.

Well, hang on, here I go on another roller-coaster ride into the entrepreneurial world, hehe.

In other news, I am truly blest to have a lovely and completely unexpected gift in my house--from none other than my Celandine plant that I got via mail-order last summer. It sat on my deck all summer not doing much but developing some new leaves. When it got cold, I brought the pot inside and all but one of the leaves promptly fell off, to my despair.

But it started growing some new leaves so I had hopes that it would survive. Then about a week ago, I noticed something yellow at the base and thought it was some terrible fungus but upon further examination, lo and behold, there was a flower bud! I was so shocked to see it in December but happy nonetheless that my namesake was favoring me with some bit of its loveliness--in a time when we are so devoid of any flowers.

Anyway, after that one flower grew and bloomed for a few days, I was blessed with two more! They have brought me much joy which I will share with you below--taken just a few minutes ago.

So the year is off to an decent start, I suppose, and I am "cautiously optimistic" for a good 2007 with an interesting job and--hopefully--more Celandine flowerings.

My best wishes to everyone for a wonderful New Year with flowers and happiness in every day to come.
