Oh no! That's so awful. For yourself, all the worries about it, and the friends/coworkers who had the bad news. I can only imagine how it must be for you to go to work now. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!! Let us know *big hugs*

Thanks for the hugs. It was and still is awful to hear everyday of someone I am friends with not having a job anymore. I'll definitely keep you informed though. I think today might be the last day for the sweep but it seems nobody knows for sure.

Dude. That so sucks. I will be sending the good mojo your way. My company has had to make some recent cuts, luckily it wasn't any employees, just the daily catered lunches.

I can definitely use heaping amounts of good mojo now.

LOL..daily catered lunches? That would be awesome if that's all they cut back. Having that job security for me is sooo much better.:P

Apparently what they pay a year on catered lunch meetings was more than what they were paying me *sigh* I am happy to give up the free food. At least we still have the daily fresh fruit, the pastries on Monday and the bagels on Friday (though I am cool with giving those up too).

The owners really like food.

Now that is what I call poorly running the company budget. Underpaying the employees so they could have a full belly. :P

Cool on some of the freebie stuff though as that's always nice. Our work has an EDR (employee dining room) and basically it's a fully staffed kitchen where we can buy a complete dinner for a dollar. If they were to get rid of that to save jobs I dont think I'd mind in the least though I know it would be missed.

Funny thing is that they added this separate, luxurious employee lounge as well with leather couches, flat screen tv's, tons of computers, a pin ball machine and even a Wii! Where they spend their money makes no sense at all either though. :P

You've done everything you can do to protect your position. You've still got time to strengthen their positive perception of you. I hope it pays off.

As a former manager, I can tell you that we were always looking for employees with records like yours.

*hugs*

Aww.. thanks for the encouraging words. I've always been a stickler for toeing the line and doing my best. Hopefully it'll pay off and I'll still be kicking around come the new year.

It's become a running joke and a way of blowing off stress for me and a few friends at work to dramatically sigh in relief as we punch out from our shift saying, "Well, we survived *another* day without getting fired!" :P

Today I heard is the last day for layoff's so hopefully I'll be saying this for the final time tomorrow morning.
