It was Mrs. Garrett for Facts of Life.
I think Clare Huxtable would probably rank high up there on a lot of people's lists. She's one of those characters where you hear people say "I used to wish she was MY mom." (Personally, I'm not into the sass, but that's just me.)

:-) Mrs. Garret! Yes! It all comes back now! I _knew_ someone would know! :-)
Nah, I wasn't one to wish she was my mom, but she was an early one who worked full time and in a profession other than teaching or nursing (she was a lawyer if my memory doesn't fail me!), which I thought, for when that show was out, was a huge step forward. :-)

Who remembers Clare Huxtable... she was a minority, raided 5 (?) kids, AND worked! And did housework. And cooked.
Then there was _The_Facts_of_Life_ and the "mom" who took care of the gals. (I so cannot remember her name and don't have the energy to look it up.)
:-) can we see I am a little stuck in the 80s?
