SPAIN/ROMANO FST:
El Precio Exacto de la Felicidad

Prólogo: Amantes

01. Chanela - Paco de Lucia

Act I: Cuidar

02. You’ve Got a Friend - James Taylor

When you're down and troubled
And you need some loving care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend

Act II: Dependencia

03. Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand

So if you're lonely
You know I'm here waiting for you
I'm just a cross-hair
I'm just a shot away from you
And if you leave here
You leave me broken
shattered, I lie
I'm just a cross-hair
I'm just a shot, then we can die
I know I won't be leaving here
With you

Act III: Conquistador

04. Viva La Vida - Coldplay

I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field

For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world

Act IV: Separación

05. Run - Snow Patrol

I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done

And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Act V: Confusión

06. Little By Little - Oasis

True perfection has to be imperfect
I know that that sounds foolish but it's true
The day has come and now you'll have to accept
The life inside your head we give to you
You know I didn't mean what I just said
But my God woke up on the wrong side of his bed
And it just don't matter now

Cos little by little
We gave you everything you ever dreamed of
Little by little
The wheels of your life have slowly fallen off
Little by little
You have to give it all in all your life
And all the time I just ask myself why
You're really here

Act VI: Devoción

07. Smooth - Santana

And if you said this life ain't good enough
I would give my world to lift you up
I could change my life to better suit your mood
'Cause you're so smooth

And it's just like the ocean under the moon
Oh, it's the same as the emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah
Give me your heart, make it real
Or else forget about it

Act VII: Delincuente

08. The Fallen - Franz Ferdinand

So I'm sorry if I ever resisted
I never had a doubt that you ever existed
I only have a problem when people insist on
Taking their hate; placing it onto your name

Some say ya troubled boy
Just because you like to destroy
You are the word, the word is 'destroy'
I break this bottle
Think of you fondly

Did I see you in a limousine
Flinging out the fish and the unleavened
To the whore in a hostel
Or the scum of a scheme
Turn the rich into wine,
Walk on the mean.
It's not a jag in the arm
It's a nail in the beam.
On the barren Earth
You scatter your seed
Be they Magdelan or Virgin

You've already been,
You've already seen
That the fallen are the virtuous among us
Walk among us
Oh if you judge us,
We're all damned.

Act VIII: Exigencia

09. Let’s Get Loud - The Baseballs

If you wanna live your life
Live it all the way and don't you waste it
(don't you waste it)
Every feelin' every beat
Can be so very sweet you gotta taste it
You gotta do it
you gotta do it your way
You gotta prove it
You gotta mean what you say
You gotta do it
you gotta do it your way
You gotta do it

Let's get loud, let's get loud
Turn the music up to hear that sound
Let's get loud, let's get loud
Ain't nobody gotta tell you
What you gotta do, no no

Act IX: Culpa

10. Angry Angel - Imogen Heap

Over there stands my angry angel
And he’s shaking his head
In disgrace with me
Yeah, over there stands my angry angel
And he’s frowning like hell
But I'm not feeling guilty

Epílogo: Amor

11. The Godfather Finale - Nino Rota

B-Side: Romano

12. The Walk - Imogen Heap

Inside-out, upside-down,
Twisting beside myself
Stop that now
You're as close as it gets
Without touching me
Oh now don't make it harder
Than it already is
I feel a weakness coming on

[…]

It’s not meant to be like this,
Not what I planned at all
I don’t want to feel like this

No it’s not meant to be like this,
It's just what I don't need
Why make me feel like this
It's definitely all your fault

Notes:

I have to admit that I wasn't intending to make an FST of Spain/Romano at all. My next FST was supposed to be a two-part US/UK FST, and even though I have had the songs for it ready for ages, this was what I ended up making. Oh well. *shrugs*

In case it wasn't clear from the songs, this FST is entirely from Spain's POV - except for the B-Side, aptly titled Romano.

Also, I am very much aware that people might disagree with my choises here, "they're not cheerful enough, not Spain enough" and so on. Well, I happen to enjoy all the deeper aspects of their relationship, and I do not want to depict their relationship, or Spain, for that matter, as superficially happy-go-lucky. That's why I included songs like Viva La Vida, Take Me Out and The Fallen. I know there could have been even more fitting songs about guilt and religion and whatnot, but I'm afraid I ran out of time and patience.

There were not many songs with historical references, and those are so generic and universally known so I won't bother with links to Wikipedia. I hope you don't mind.

If you have any questions about the songs, why I chose them, requests for individual songs or something quite else, feel free to ask/tell me. Also, I know my Spanish isn't perfect, so feel free to correct me if I happened to make any mistakes.

I think that's enough for my ramblings. If anyone actually read all this, I congratulate you. :D
