Three Day Accounts ... they make me sound ridiculously insane.

May 10, 2005 23:31

Sunday.Wow. We have accomplished filial Sunday rituals even before most people woke up. Mother's day for us started at 5 am ish, since the Sister was going to Japan with her friend Marian and her family. Fifth wheel na hindi. Bon voyage to sister.

Anyway, Mother's Day Commercial Ritual was fun. I mean, the Mother knew we were going to get her something, DUH, but it still became unexpected. We gave her a collared shirt, a copy of Tanging Ina and Madrasta (kitang kita na sa amin ang Star Cinema), and Foundant Cake. Plus, I made the Sister burn a CD, and she copied a playlist of songs for Mothers, throw in a couple of Carpenters and My Best Friend's Wedding OST songs. Poof! She also worked on the cover and the mother got teary.

Thanks to
Barre's rhymage in this particular comment, it made me go on verse mode for the Mother's Day Card. I wrote and I quote:

For giving us life
And rides to school
And being daddy's wife
You are just so cool!

Then mother was like... Grabe, parang ang layo naman nung value nung life sa rides to school. Ano ba naman yung rides to school.

My response was: I can't believe you guys don't believe in my poetic prowess! It means that we appreciate the small things as much as the big things.

Athough I'd prefer to call Mother's and Father's Days as Offspring Profit Extraction Season, I've renamed it to match the insane Membership Appreciation Day I blurted in my Final Interview with DS. Well... last Sunday was Mother Appreciation Day! Cheka. Yun nga talaga cover nung card na ginawa ko on MS Publisher.

We went to hear mass, and it was a *gasp* mass in Filipino. When we got in the Church, I was shocked to see the Aussie priest that I used to crush on when he was a tad bit younger. My God. They really actualised the Pentecost thingum, you know, how the apostles spoke in different tongues after the Holy Spirit descended on them. His Filipino was so natural, considering that I got so used with his heavy OZ accented sermons. AMAZING. Talagang na-shock ako.

The mass ended at 6:47. Breakfast with family. Mother kept calling the server by his first name. Yun bang tipong:

"Rey, pahingi ngang straw?"
"Thank you Rey ha."

Hm... mom, why are you so close to "Rey?" Apparently something she picked from Atty. Vicky Loanzon, who really brings out the politician in you. Actually, it's good comsumer protocol to actually serve the purpose of the name tag in those in the service industry. According to the mother, one's first name is the most melodious word that a person can hear. Thus, for service-oriented people, assuming closeness will make them serve better. Hm...

That afternoon, my sister left with Marian. I love the way Marian appreciated the shirt I picked out for her. As in. Before they left for the airport, she changed. I think my sister will have a fab time. Too late to be jealous now. And she still hasn't called.

Went to the grandparents' house and sang in the Magic Sing (I monopolised the mic. But I'm honestly getting sick of the Tagalog 5 chip). My grandfather also taught me to play Russian Poker but after I ran out of beginner's luck, reminded me to focus on my studies (?). Then went to Jessica's grave. Then to school. Then I was in the company of Kriz (black_auteur) and Wina (mirage17). We went to the Meralco Theater, and for me it was a first time. Interesting Samurai dance concert. Just when my sister is going to Japan. I enjoyed the cold inside the theater in stark contrast to the dehydrating heat in the grandparent's house. And the excellent lighting. V. simple set design and costume. V. eccentrically Japanese. After the two-hour dance benefit, we walked to Metrowalk. DVDs galore. Surprisingly untouched by the OMB (that's the Optical Media Board for those still planning to visit http://acronymfinder.com)

Monday. I am panicking over the Math exam that I wasn't able to cover everything. Oh well... maaring may himala diba? So while Angelica (chubisco) was cramming for her Film 10 Midterm Paper, I was just staring at my notes, trying to make out the problem I wasn't able to solve ever. And then poof! Our exam/class was cancelled. There's a God!!!

So I started the DebSoc project proposal presentation at the Bahay ng Alumni with Angelica. Then the mother extracted me. I hung out at the office the rest of the afternoon, watching Series of Unfortunate Events, which my brother totally loved, and finally excerting the effort to analyze the problems that I wasn't able to solve during "exercise period" and mastering the concepts. And then working on the presentation. And then finally... slumber.

Today. Feeling preppy na casual na ewan. So I wore very basic colours and my favourite shoes. Which I wore on Sunday, when I was most exposed to public transport. You know what that means? Comfortable shoes aren't an issue for me now! I'm the perfect city girl! Er... right.

Anyway, Exams. Harder than the first, but answerable. Kung bolang kristal at tarot cards ang gusto mong basehan ng kadalian or answerability. I'm preparing to die for the third one because I don't understand anything. Yet.

I "met" with my PE groupmates, but we didn't get anything productive really. We just tried to remember our routines for the practicals. And then went to Econ to download the revisions Kriz had for our presentation. Lunch with Wina. Went back to Econ to wash my face? There was this lady who complimented my earrings. These are my everyday earrings and I found it totally weird. Because I was washing my face and then out of the blue, she just says, "You know I like your earrings." *insert v. weird small talk conversation here*

No one was at the Tambayan so I decided to go to the Diosdado Macapagal hall of SE. Freshie Orientation hm... v. last year. So yesterday. So yesterday. I'm just a bird that's already flown away. OK, tama naaaa! Sir Oca invited me to go in, and thought I was a freshie, and I told him I still was, but no thank you *another weird small talk insert here*. When the DS people popped out of the Tambayan, they were just in time for me to say good bye to them again, and Gino and I were off to the train station, otherwise known as the Quezon Ave terminal of the MRT Line 3, also called by Celeni as the second world train, which she also took last Sunday. And almost every trip to Shangri-la at that. Anyway, the Wizard of Oz didn't stop at the Ayala station, so we cabbed to Libran House and met up with a demi-perky woman named Jo Cruz of Accenture. She likes the project. Yay! All Stars! And she was surprised I was "young." Young in terms of college experience maybe.

Bonded with Gino and Kriz. 'Twas fun. Especially since we had dinner and I got my dose of overpriced vanilla soy milk. Then back to the crowded MRT. Then home. Then computer. Then type. Then I'm becoming v. boring.

I do hope I'm not boring anyone, although the intention of this account is for me to look back at something and actually "enjoy" reading it. Not necessarily for your consumption but for my personal entertainment in that point in time. Although I must admit, your comments are commensurate to the amount of enjoyability I'll get in the future. If you're from Joketime, I apologise for not coming to round two of your performances/auditions although I did wish you well.

My ankles hurt now. I could go die now.
