Icon Tutorial

Mar 09, 2007 14:30

* Made an icon by accident recently and was asked if I could make a tutorial for it. It's not the exact icon, but it's close. Hopefully it's helpful to everyone.
* I use PSP8, but it's mostly likely translatable in all versions and PS.

From this:
to this:

1. Make your base. Do whatever your heart desires here.

2. Add a Brightness/Contrast layer (Layers - New Adjustment Layer - Brightness/Contrast). Contrast +50 and the Brightness +30

3. Add a Hue/Saturation/Lightness Layer (Layers - New Adjustment Layer - Hue/Saturation/Lightness Laye). Saturation +25 and set layer to darken.

4. Duplicate base, move it to the top, and set to Soft Light at 50%. Sharpen the Soft Light layer at twice.

5. Merge all layers and go in with a soften brush at 15% Opacity to touch up the face.

6. Select the background, cut and paste it moving the person to the top.

7. Overlay the red texture made by me over the background and set to darken.

,

8. Overlay the blue texture made by me on top and set to lighten.

,

9. Overlay the blue texture made by me on top and set to exclusion.

10. Preset tool shape using the Callout shape on top of the red texture

11. Text layer- 'Batman Beat the hell outta me' font (I kid you not, that is the font's name), 22pt, white.

Th-th-th-th-That's all, Folks...LOL!! Let me know what y'all think about it!!
