Thanks to her great grandson who is feeling better. Why? Because he gave her his stomach bug. Knock on wood, I'm not sick but I braved the Friday evening trip to the supermarket to get soup and ginger ale and that sort of thing

As it would happen, Paul had the flu at the same time that I had the stomach bug. I think that because my immune system was in overdrive dealing with the stomach bug, I didn't get the flu. I think I came out well on THAT deal; I'd rather have to constantly take a crap than constantly FEEL like crap. And other than having to stay in the proximity of a toilet, I had no fever and I felt okay. He, on the other hand, had a fairly high fever and felt terrible. But I'm all better now, and he is much better as well. You never really stop to appreciate normal gastro-intestinal functioning until something like this happens.
Best of luck avoiding the dreaded lurgy! I think your strategy is probably the best way of avoiding it, but if it's out and about and you have to go anywhere public or handle cash, you can't help but be at risk of getting it as these things are usually spread by contact
