Ham on Rye was an all right read, if I recall correctly. As with most Bukowski though, it's a fast read... and I am never sure if I am satisfied in the end. I have been on a John Fante kick for the last two weeks. The back of Ask the Dust has a blurb from Bukowski which reads "John Fante was my god." That is quite the recomendation, if I've ever heard one.

I shall pick it up. And yeah, Ham on Rye took me maybe a total of 3 hours to read. But I love the way he writes. And it always always always makes me feel better.
