Week #2 of my Caffeine Fast

Apr 12, 2006 13:15

This has happened to me once before - Freshman year, 8am classes every day. I have gotten into the habit of having a pot of coffee every morning and various caffeinated products throughout the day in order to keep me at a 'normal energy level'. Realizing that this may in fact not be the best for my health, I decided last week to stop all caffeine ( Read more... )

Oh god, gag. Stick me in a mortuary and I'm happy as can be, but this kind of stuff? Gnaugh. It physically PAINS me. >_o

Also, you're a stronger person than I will ever be to give up caffeine. I tried to quit cold turkey once (after realizing that I was drinking, on average (though usually more than), a six-pack of soda a day) and the withdrawl headaches I got were so bad that for a while, all I could do was lay in bed and cry. I couldn't hold out, and though I don't drink nearly so much soda now (1-3 per day) I still know that just... no. I don't ever want to do that again.

More power to you, hon. Keep us updated!!

Well, sodas are definitely much worse than caffeine to quit... haha. I also used to drink a lot of sodas during high school and did the same thing... it was horrible. They have BOTH caffeine and sugar - that's two withdrawals in one. I try to stay away from sugar (have my coffee black, diet sodas) because I know it's almost worse to quit than anything else.
So I guess we need some sort of rehab clinic where they chain us to beds and let us cry all day until we're totally over the withdrawal. Ahhh yes. That's the answer.

I did the withdrawl thing back in october of 03.

The entire month i didn't have caffeine except at restaurants.

I slept about 12-14 hours a day and had bad headaches.

YIKES. That looks so painful. *covers eyes*

Congrats on yr success with dropping the caffeine. I'll have to give that a shot someday. ;x The nicotine could go, too, but that'll be even more hard.

I hate how people assume things are alright, just because they're legal. Alcohol is a perfect example of that.

Anyway, I hope the days get easier for you, girly. I'm sure yr body will thank you later on!

Caffeine is easy in the long run. Nicotine is NEVER easy even months after quitting you still want to smoke. There's gotta be a life changing event for most people in order to stop either, haha.

withdraw from caffeine slowly. But you're wise to get free of it. Maybe combine the withdrawal with lots of exercise? Good luck, sweetie

I concur. No worries... my grandfather quit smoking in one day (from 3 packs a day). It runs in the family! We can quit anything. We're quitters.
