I have this twisted feeling in my stomach and I don't know why.

My birthday is tomorrow.

This is weird, to say the least. I don't know if it's the idea of another big tattoo, or how tight this tattoo makes our money, or the fact that things are so off for my birthday

making your life what you want it to be is really fucking hard. it's more tangible if you take baby steps towards it. and it never EVER turns out exactly like you wanted (which often ends up being a blessing anyway) because there is a lot we can't control.
the way you feel about your family is totally the way i've been feeling about my dad since i started college. we used to be best friends and then he got distant and refuses to hang out with me ever. always some chore he has to do or tv program he can't miss... it really hurts.
keep on having big goals and working hard towards them. i love you, babe.

that recognition of the disconnect between the way it is in our head and real life can be a painful one. I'm awfully sorry that things with your family aren't and won't be closer to the version in your head. I hope you can continue to enjoy time with them, even after this realization. *hugs*
