RotK - Phenomenal

Looks like I practiced my LJ-cutting just in time!

This was just the most amazing movie. I can't say enough about it. Some memorable moments for me:

Frodo and Samwise - everything with them was so touching, and sad, especially the part where Sam finally says he doesn't think there will be a return journey (even though we know they survive it didn't matter, it was so moving).

Gandalf - I love Gandalf, he was so commanding in this, especially while leading the men of Gondor and not letting them give up the fight while waiting for help

Merry & Pippin - such brave hobbits. I especially liked their interaction when Gandalf is taking Pippin away, and later when Pippin finds Merry on the battlefield. So touching. And when Merry wanted to fight in the battle but no one would take him except Eowyn.Oh and Pippin's singing for Denethor made me cry.

Aragorn's ghost army - watching them leave the ship and plow over the enemy

Faramir, leading his men to their doom - and it was so cool that they didn't show the massacre. I thought it was so moving, the way they left Minas Tirith, and all the people were watching them go, throwing flowers at their feet. I was all teary-eyed!

The Witch King's fortress - there's something about that eerie green light. And the Nazgul and those beasts they fly on (forget what they're called)

The Whole Ending - I thought I would be disappointed, because I really wanted to see the hobbits go back to the Shire and save the day, but I liked how Jackson decided to end it. And I think the scene where they're all at the Pub, looking around at everyone else having a good time, knowing what they've just been through was an effective way of showing how the journey changed them all. And Frodo leaving with Gandalf - I was crying so hard when Frodo was saying goodbye to Merry, Pippin, and Samwise. It was the perfect ending, I was just so glad Frodo would be able to find some peace. Of course this is the moment my husband decided he was hungry and needed to eat more popcorn - I was ready to kill him, and my next viewing of the movie will be ALONE (and on the IMAX!)

The Music - Howard Shore is amazing. I never thought I would love a score more than I did FotR, and then he does this one. He really made memorable music for this trilogy. And the song 'Into the West' was especially heart-wrenching.

Well I could go on and on but I won't. As I commented in scribbulus_ink's LJ if this movie doesn't sweep the Oscars I will never watch the Oscars again (FotR should have won many more Oscars I must say!)
