Graphic design question - help if anyone knows

I am a dumbass and do not remember this at all.

Can someone in the know remind me what plotting - with regards to graphic design - means?

I am stupid. It's been too long and I am rusty.

I would think that it has something to do with using a plotter. A plotter is a printer that uses pens and actually draws shapes and lines. Usually you would need a vector based drawing program to use a plotter. Like Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw or AutoCad.
