Very sure.... I've been gluten free for over 10yrs, and basically cook most family meals from scratch (and regularly check ingredients etc on prepared sauces or whatever) - especially as I'm pregnant (and or have been breastfeeding for the last three years - so very aware of need to maintain gastro intestinal health for absorbtion of minerals etc).
Wait to see how you feel after you get the iv iron.
My gut is always in shambles when my iron is way too low.
Are you taking prenatal vitamins? My prenatals contained stool softeners--something I did NOT need. The magnesium in some of them can also cause diarrhea.
Nods... I felt GREAT after the iron - a sudden boost in energy. So much so I walked all over town getting my hair cut AND I ate a plate of curry for lunch. And my stomach didn't rebel at the curry! (I was in the mood to 'deal' and really really wanted dahl and lamb rogan josh and damn it was worth it!) It's now 1.45am and I've barely had a problem.
My prenatas are fine, and don't contain stool softeners, I've been on them for years (breastfeeding and pregnant for three years now), I am taking extra magnesium right now though (charley horse hell thanks pregnancy) so I'll chat to the dietician about those when I see her on Thursday.
I take cal-mag from ovulation through the second day of my period for hormonal nipple pain (I'm EPing for my stubborn girlie and holy hell does pumping hurt right now) and it doesn't make much for me to hit my bowel tolerance. Right now, one or two a day (200mg/100mg of calcium citrate and magnesium) is enough to make me have several bowel movements a day. Any more than that it's it's like being glutened.
I'm pregnant - I can't stop eating a whole bunch of foods :( Especially calcium and proteins. This causes significant risk of stillbirth/miscarriage.
Not sure what 'daily colostrum' is - the only colostrum I know is pre-milk for breastfeeding!
I don't know if you can get gluten ease in Australia - I've only heard about it in passing here from Americans - is it like a lactose tablet that the milk intolerants have?
Sorry I can't help as not totally celiac(was diagnosed years back but turned out was more processed and white carbs - rice is worse than grains for me).
I do want to comment on the iron. As someone that has been anemic for years(not sure if it's due to hypothyroid or they are just fighting each other) I can't take most iron meds due to major GI upset. A few years ago my naturopath at the time turned me onto Floradix(there is also Floravital which I believe is gluten free) and it's been a lifesaver in terms of getting my ferritin levels up to low normal range(and periods don't kill me when on it). It is a different form of iron, drinkable and I buy it at Whole Foods but most natural foods stores should carry it or be able to order it. Look into it, REALLY helped me (I can eat an entire cow and iron levels never moved like this stuff).
That or nettles. Not the time of year to find them fresh(if you don't get stung and cook them, taste better than spinach) but you can get dried for tea. Good luck!
