Heck, I wrote 'some' three times in one sentence. Oh well.

I don't really know, but my last PC suffer from the same disease and they charged me about (I'm thinking in dollars) about 60 dollars. And they didn't really fixed it! (so I'm never going back there) That's a lot of money here, I always compare prices thinking of food or other things. Lot of money. To fix an old computer (it's been used for about 15 years!, by my sis and then me) I always thought the monitor would be the first to go, it's burned, really dark. So anyday it's the monitor, anyway.

My previous pc lasted 6 years, but the monitor outlived the processor.
It's also a lot of money for me (ca. 1 month's food expenses). I'd say it's really not worth to invest further money in that old comp. You could buy a used younger one for the price of these repairs - I suppose?
I really hope you'll find a solution.
