Watched Gabriel yesterday, some older Australian film. Concept was awesome. Execution was... eh.

So anyway the premise is about seven archangels and seven demons, battling it out in purgatory. In order to enter purgatory though, they have to assume human form, suffer all the weaknesses that come with being human.

Gabriel's the last of the Arcs left, and he descends to purgatory to find out what happened to the six who came before him; the demons are winning and because they are stronger they have turned purgatory into some dark and seedy place (which is actually pretty cool in that dystopian kinda way). Long story short, they're all either in hiding or dead.

Maybe I'm biased but the angels' dialogue was so... low-class. I mean, okay, I liked Uriel's appearance, but Gabriel had no excuse. He's been there like what, a couple of days? Why does he speak like a weird hybrid of preacher and gangster?

And then there's Amitiel. She was okay I guess but her character could have been pushed beyond the trope of 'hooker with a heart of gold'. Been there, seen that a hundred times. What really made me cringe was the forced romance between her and Gabriel. Why. Whhhhyyyyyyyy.Okay I get the deal about feeling human emotions, but seriously? Why does every action film always have your typical romance? Main character and tough girl who's actually really vulnerable. I'm tired of hoping for the day when this formula won't crop up and spoil an otherwise good show (not that Gabriel is particularly good).

Shining moment was at the end of the movie though, when Sammael revealed who he really was, and how the battle ended. The rest of the movie had its moments, but I thought the director kinda sucked.

A remake of Gabriel would be pretty cool to watch. Minus the romance between Gabriel and Amitiel pls.

Also. There's this huge canvas at Studio M. at Taka. With a traced artwork from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles of Syaoran. It's being displayed as a proper art piece.

What the fuck.

WHAT THE FUCK.

EXCUSE ME, HOW IS A TRACED ARTWORK CONSIDERED ART? HOW CAN YOU DISPLAY IT SO PROUDLY IN YOUR SHOP WINDOW. D< AND PENCIL ON CANVAS. WHY.

maybe there's nothing wrong with pencil on canvas but personally I think it's a huge waste of money when you can just buy a gigantic roll of paper and mount it instead.
