Most of the time, I encounter homophobia on the internet. I know my relatives would flip at the mention of it, but I've never really thought about it because this goes under Shit That Does Not Happen with my family. By this time, I've started to tune it out, but when I hear it in real life, somehow it's just such a shock. I don't know why, but I just didn't expect to hear such hateful homophobia here in Singapore. It's not like I don't know homophobes exist by the dozen here, but just. idek.
Yesterday on the bus, I heard this odious asshole on the phone with someone.
"You mean she's with another woman now... So you tell me, how can two women make love eh? How can they? You should talk to her, tell her to become a normal woman or she'll go to Hell."
My jaw just dropped in shock. Seriously, what the fuck? I wanted to punch his self-satisfied face so badly. Luckily he got off at the very next stop, because I don't know how much longer I can stand listening to bigotry like that.
