Well, we're back. Austin looks, smells, and feels much the same as it ever did, in other words, not much to my liking. Oh well, so it is and so it will be.
The trip was phenomenal, albeit exhausting. Thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand times over to those of you who took time out of your busy lives to make room for us. Dinner last Saturday was fabulous for those that could make it; as was desert at ciocolat in Davis. The performance went well and
vsherbie enjoyed herself.
Alterna-ceili was everything we were hoping for. We saw more people than we truly dared to dream and I'm not sure I sat much the entire night. An extraordinary evening all the way around. Thank you to those who drove farther than is entirely comfortable on a week night and thank you to those who came that don't normally attend. It means the world to us to have people go out of their way to such an extent just to spend a few hours with us. It's an honour and an incredibly humbling experience at the same time.
The end of the trip, we spent with family, and it went well. We are all adults by now and the parental units accept this to a greater or lesser degree. The relationships are changing. For the good, I believe.
We gave our love to the Pacific, and walked among the redwoods, though to heart's ease, I'm afraid. We had a fabulous dinner and a multiple dinners with friends that were every bit as fabulous but had nothing to do with the quality of the food. Friends and more than friends, family even, though sometimes it is hard to think outside of blood, you mean more to us than we can possibly express. We admire, respect, and love you in equal measure and I haven't the words to express it adequately.
We'll make it back as soon as we can and stay in touch as often as we can. We miss you all.
