i don't know anything about saxophones and that was really interesting. isn't it crazy what people have tucked in their attics or under their beds sometimes? all i can say is wow!
yet another sign that you should really learn instrument repair (even oboe. michigan weather = cracks = good business.) so you can open up a shop....! Just saying..... ;)
I'm greatful for what I do know of repair...and thankfully, it's quite a bit, but I would love to learn more, and serious repair. I finally found my old busted up loree oboe though, so I think i'm going to learn on it by tearing it down to wood and rebuilding it.
yay rebuild! the book "Oboe Unbound" has an inside and out view of the oboe set up and adjustment and repairs. It would be a good reference for you to have or just to look at (Ally could prolly MelCAT it for you) Also, try a number of different suppliers for Loree parts, because you can get really cheap stuff from some places if you look. :)
