Likewise, anything that doesn't involve actually directly sending you money...
I'd gladly commission a work from you, but I doubt that I have enough budget to pay you for it. As a matter of fact, if you wanted to write a work for solo trombone (preferably in Db or something modal), I'd do my best to scrape up a reasonable sum for compensation. It would be good for me to get my lazy butt working on something new and I'd never send you a recording so you wouldn't need to cry.
I just realized that my wording didn't necessarily make sense. I meant that I'd gladly commission a band work from you, but my budget there is pretty lean. I am scraping the barrel to pick up a $45 piece from JW Pepper for the band.
Sounds like the shit hit the fan. That sucks and I am sorry to hear it. Is the Saab totally dead or is there a way to fix it? Good luck with it and if it makes you feel better, your not alone in your situation. Have yourself a good long rant and then start thinking about goals, do what you can do and try not to sweat the stuff you have no control over. Sorry that life is so frustrating right now. It will change in time.
I know it's been a while since we've talked proper, but don't forget we're still friends. I feel for you, because it's like your self-proclaimed "bitch and moan" could be about my life. I'm 23, living with my Dad, just getting a part-time job (after being in Petoskey for months and months) and have no car.
Life sucks, for everyone. But cut yourself some slack. Don't let it all get you down. Start making some plans, become the comeback kid. You won't always be at home, dirt poor, and working a cruddy job. Rouse up some gumption, take a tally of all the good things in your life and figure out what you can do to change the bad.
I believe in you and despite the crappiness, hope you're moderately swell. :)
Some people can better afford to make ridiculous decisions because they've got someone to bail them out. Those people will think they know about money or that they know what it's like to be poor just because they've been in college and lived without limitless resources for that brief period of time.
Other people have had times they were afraid to tell their parents they don't have enough money to eat because they know their parents can't really afford to help them.
Everyone makes mistakes. Some people just have someone who can (and will) bail them out. You and I didn't win the lottery on parents with resources or good planning skills, but you know what? Fuck it.
And those friends that offer to help you? Try not to think of it as charity. It sounds weird, but you earned that by being a great friend.
I just wanted to make sure you know our offer still stands. There are jobs here in Boston (they're just harder to find than before). If you want to give Boston a try looking for a job, you've got a futon with us. CJ and Plunkett are here too, and CJ came specifically to look for a two (he found two). Even if you want to stay in MI, I'm praying for you... where you are emotionally is a pretty awful place.
