i took my computer to office of information technologies at umass, and i guess it's just their policy. when i asked one of the geeky guys to back up my mp3s, he said, "technically we're not allowed to, but i'll see what i can do," and then he didn't. but they saved all of my word files, and maybe even my sim people. i had norton antivirus, so what the hell? oit replaced it with the program umass uses.
when you use limewire, while it is downloading something it scans it, and if it finds a corruption in the file, it asks if you want to continue downloading it, and you can just say no. Sometimes I dont' care thoguh, because i have a mac and nobody writes viruses for macs. But yeah, limewire is a good program to use.
thanks, i'll try it! i was using bearshare. so if i get another virus it's your fault. not really. and you know what song it happened with? angels from montgomery! can you think of a more unmalicious song?

well, to my knowledge, downloading the a virus infected file isn't bad, it's when you execute the file bad stuff happens.
