STARFUCKERS is an alternate universe roleplay inspired by the music of Nine Inch Nails.
One hundred and eight years ago, the world as we know it came to an end.
The records are sketchy, but the basics were obvious.
Terrorists attacked the city of Los Angeles during the Oscars. The entire city was leveled by nuclear bombs.
They put drugs in the water, to keep the people docile.
The United States government suspended habeas corpus, and the free nation became a theocracy.
People fought, and resisted.
Those people disappeared.
God's hand reached down, and made his Presence known.
And then it was over.
Now, in 0110/2130, the world is a very different place.
Humanity has only recently surpassed the technology they had when the End came.
Climate change has drastically affected the geography of the world, and the government's hold has been shaken by time and terrorism.
They have a war to deal with. Citizens to keep under control. If you help rebels, they will make you disappear.
Disease and extreme weather are rampant. Natural disasters and war are commonplace, almost expected.
Danger is almost normal. Don't be worried, though. The Parepin will keep you nice and calm, no matter what happens- Or what you see.
Strange things have happened. Keep an eye on the sky- Fear what could come from it. You should be terrified, if you believe the stories.
People are arrested for treason on a daily basis. When they disappear, they are never seen again.
There are exceptions. Mind your step and wallet, and you can keep afloat in this world.
Don't drink the water. There is still Parepin in there, and stronger things. The government uses it to keep you complacent. If you can afford it, you can get clean water from the black market.
You can get anything from the black market, if you know where to look.
You can sink or swim. You can struggle, make your way to the top, but in the end, it may not matter.
Things are starting to happen. There are reports of strange things happening again. The Church is starting to make things harder than ever.
The sky is looking a bit more threatening.
We have set something in motion much greater than we've ever known-
And now, we are going to reap what we have sown.
