Summary: Dean copes with his family.
Dean hit the wall again and again and again. Each time his knuckles scraped the brick his teeth ground themselves a little harder, bone on bone to counteract the stone on raw flesh, his shoulders growing tenser.
This was the argument reborn, no words: only Dean’s fist-a poignant illustration for each point his father and brother had made against one another.
This was the oldest Winchester brother finally having his say, in the only way he could, even if it was all alone.
In less than two minutes the top of his hand and fingers were nothing but gritty puss and blood while the hotel building’s side merely suffered minor stains, another great metaphor for his family.
Breathing heavy, face red, hand dripping onto alley dirt below, Dean laid his head back and breathed.
When he finally headed back to their room, his sleeve was pulled down low and his grin was plastered on. Neither Sam nor his father would notice.
