LJ/Facebook/Twitter nonsense

If you hate the idea of automated cross-posting from LJ to Twitter and FB as much as I do, go take the poll here!

For serious...I *really* don't like seeing those little ticky boxes in the lower left-hand corner of my screen.

There's a script to help you get rid of the boxes on your own screen, but it still won't stop anyone from cross-posting comments that they might post on your entries. >:(

Thank you for the link, just voted. I really hope there'll be a way to opt-out. Or they could get rid of the whole feature, for all I care. I still can't figure out how they could work on a feature for (I'm assuming) quite a while and never once think "wait, won't people feel it's a violation of their privacy?". It seems so obvious.

I wonder that about a lot of things. This sort of thing doesn't happen without the OK of a LOT of people, and it didn't raise any questions for anyone? The mind boggles.

I'm confused and concerned...do you have to have linked your LJ and FB together for the feature to work?

I've got to say I'm pretty freaked out about this. I do not need my colleagues on FB to see my fangirling...

Nope. You can link them so that everything cross-posts (making you the most annoying person on Facebook, I'm sure), but every comment or entry has little ticky boxes beneath that you can check to cross-post to FB or Twitter. Even on flocked posts! Only their comment would be visible, but as you know, people frequently quote posts in their comments.

If you're not using your real name anywhere here, you should be OK, but it still worries me. My high-school classmates and former co-workers don't need to read my Leverage porn.

Only a few people here know my full name and email address :) and they're all people how I know wouldn't cross-post me without my consent, but I worry that there's some way through that I'm not thinking of. I took my email address out of my LJ profile just in case.

I'm hoping this goes away. The last thing I need/want is my family finding my fandom stuff or posts where I'm bitching about them.

IKR? If you don't have your real name all over your LJ, you should probably be OK, but still--not letting us opt-out is BS.
