Oh, I really like the idea of Sam recognising his own feelings in Castiel that way, and the two of them sharing that connection. Sad and lovely!

Thank you so much! That's how I pictured it, Sam seeing a version of his own feelings in Castiel. His statement "It doesn't get any easier" just comes out of nowhere, from Castiel's point of view. Thanks for commenting!
