Hello, everyone! I'm kind of in a search for an old Celtic tape i used to listen to as a child, and I was hoping you all could help me out. :) I can't remember the titles of the songs (though I do have snippets of melody and lyrics I DO remember...) nor the title of the group. Sorry!! I have tried google, but no luck ( Read more... )

It sounds like you're talking about "50 Irish Party Songs" by the Sean O'Neill band. There is a medley on that album titled "Mush, Mush, Torraliaddy / Quare Bungle Rye / Cushy Butterfield / Shamus O'Brien", and the other song you're thinking of could be part of another medley; "Galway Races / Paddy Works On The Railway / Let Mr. Maguire Sit Down / Oul Lammas Fair".
Hope this helps.

I have no idea on the woman who sang the songs, but I think the name of the first one is something like "Johnny Mc(something)". LOL I"m sure others will be able to help you more. That's all I've got. Sorry.

"Let Mr. McGuire Sit Down" is also done by Sean Doyle, on the CD "The Light and the Half-Light."
