God better have a plan, is what I'm saying

Life just seems to be determined to crush me of late. I had a concert this morning at a church downtown (it went half-well; some of the singers butchered a couple of the songs and it took a lot, lot, lot of self-restraint and prayer and encouraging looks from a friend of mine in the audience for me not to turn around and thwap them with my music) ( Read more... )

grad school, faith, friends, choir

Ugh. Who does stuff like that in a church parking lot? I mean, seriously? Way to be Christian-like, hit-and-run dude. I wish I could be there to give you a hug. If you want one, I'm just over in Parker. All day. :( Hope things get brighter for you today.

I still think the grad school problem could be solved if you wrote them back and told them that you would be willing to tone down your awesome for them.

Jenaba, I love you infinitely. You know that, right? I know exactly what you mean about school-- I'm the same way. But, that said, it may actually be a good thing to take a year off in between college and grad school. As much as there's no other job I want to eventually have, it is a shock to the system, and almost everyone I've met had time in between. Are you going to apply for history again next year, or are you going to try for English or MFA? Or just throw applications at all of them?

I'm here if you want to call and talk about anything at all.

If you find out who hit your car, just say the word. I have a blaster now. If you don't, I'm considering opening a lady's detective agency this summer, because it's not like anyone will be hiring seasonal work, and it looks like a fun job.

*hugs*

Yes...totally random response...from a person you don't know.

BUT, until I read your response I had no idea that a "lady's detective agency" even existed outside of Japan!

While in Japan, I saw an ad on the train for a women's detective agency called "Ahrwin"

http://www.ahrwin.com/ (it's all in Japanese...)

They cater specifically to women for concerns that are specifically geared towards women, mothers, and wives.

Kinda neat.

Anyway, that's it.

Somehow I think the Japanese one is much more...reserved than that. However, I think the topics they cover is very very similar and much more real. According to the website, they handle pretty much what you'd expect though they are not exclusively for women only:

Husband's/Wife's infidelity investigation
Boy friend/girl friend background check
Finding runaways from your family
Searching for someone important
Bullying investigation
Pre-wedding investigation
Stalker problems
etc...

Pretty varied and focused on the Tokyo metropolitan area. I had no idea such things even existed...
