There is a special level of hell reserved for people who begin their voicemail message with "Hello?(pause)".

There's an even specialer level of hell for those same people who don't listen to the voicemail you just left but return the call to ask why you called them.

I will admit that if I can't end a call quick enough to pick up while someone is leaving a voicemail I call back immediately rather than listen to the voicemail because I have a better chance of catching the person on the other end than if I wait two minutes to listen to their vmail then call back.

As Shannon pointed out, I often call her back without listening to a voicemail. In my defense, I'd never do it when receiving a call from a unknown number.

Oooo, please tell me the first is right next to the special hell for people answer the phone "Go." That way they can torture one another.

As for the other, sorry, sometimes that's lauded business practice in say the mortgage industry. He who waits to listen to the voicemail will not reach the executive before he/she leaves their desk again...fortunately in my newer industry I can unlearn some of these bad habits.

Ring ring...

"Go"

"Shogi"

"What?"

"Oh, my bad, I thought we were randomly naming Japanese board games."

Love it!!! I may have to steal that one. Though, outside of the mortgage industry I seldom encounter this anymore.
