It won't be long now before young whippersnappers start saying, "CD? What's that?". I think the new blue wavelength lasers are the next 8-track (yes, I know bad example for you) and that they'll probably not really catch on before cheap harddrives and flashdrives take over completely. Anyway, that's my prediction.
Also, I'm really glad to see you getting out of the house and having fun.

I understand why you're upset, but I assure you that I did not mean to engage in age discrimination (and 24 doesn't count as a "whippersnapper" anyway). My point was rather about despite the ubiquity of certain technologies in our culture that they can disappear quickly, and at an accelerating pace. Unless you make a point of telling them about CDs your own children who may not have the opportunity to experience them first hand might not know about them when they are your age. It is no disparagement of your children if they don't know about a technology that became obsolete before they were cognizant of music storage technology. I could very well be wrong though. Obviously our 8-track and vinyl are still in use, but I think that the nostalgia and kitsch factor of CDs is much less than either of those. How many kids under ten know about laser discs? Anyway I concede that I did not make my point clear, but it's no reason to take offense.
