R.I.P. Winnie 1989-2006

My 17-year-old dog died yesterday. She was howling in pain and pacing the yard in the cold rain, so we had her put to sleep. Poor puppy.

Awwwwwww! I'm sorry. I remember how rough it was when we had to put my Daisy-May to sleep. Puppy. :-(

Awww : (

It's kind of like losing a close frelative or friend.... it seems like your heart stays broken forever. I think I'm just starting to get over the crushed heart feeling. My little cockatiel had me feeling like HELL for 3 weeks after she died. I blamed myself for her death.

How sad. I lost my pug recently so I know how painful this is. My heart and thoughts are with you.

Thanks. It really does hurt to lose pets we've had for more than half our lives. I think it hurts more though to see them living in discomfort when they're that old.

I think Winnie kept missing her train and finally got on it this time. Over the last year she's been really weak. I guess she couldn't live forever, even though sometimes I thought that's exactly what was going to happen.

*hugs* I'm sorry to hear that. Wow..17 is a damn good run for a dog. What kind was she?

Thanks. She was a small tan mutt. She had white on her paws and a small treak between her eyes. She had a snout and short, floppy ears like a golden retriever. Her hair was very thick like a sheep. I don't really know much about dog breeds. I'll have to post a pic if I can find one.
