She lost.

By a fucking nose.

I dunno. It looked to me like Mike Smith asked her to go at the 300yd line (1:46 on the YouTube video), but she didn't turn on when he asked her to. It was just too late when she did go at the 200yds (1:53).

He had her like, 18 behind the last horse ... WAY too much ground to make up, even with her speed and legs!

It was really far back, but she still could have done it if she had started her run earlier, when I'm so sure he asked her to. Hell, two strides would have made the difference!

I think Mike Smith is going to need serious therapy after the way he freaked out for losing. She didn't settle well out of the gate and got stuck too far back. Can't say she didn't put in an amazing effort! It was the one way to lose and still keep the head high. :)

No kidding, eh? I felt so bad for him. And how about the winning jockey on Blame? In total shock. It looked as though he didn't know how to feel about winning!

I can't help feeling bad for poor Mike Smith. He's kicking himself in the ass and I do give him credit for taking the blame and saying it was his fault. If he would have just had her a teeny tiny bit closer then she probably woul dhave had it. She still is amazing and what other horse could make up ground like that and still be at the finish line with the lead horse? That is one amazing mare, who deserves the best retirement EVER!!
