It's been REALLY warm here lately, 65+ several days and 70+ on quite a few. Instead of enjoying the warm, sunny days, I wander around with my stomach in knots. While the climate of that area can be nice (I have to admit, I loved having 60 and 70 degree days in February in Kentucky) I know that I would not want to live there long-term and that's even if I liked the house. The culture just doesn't fit me at all.

I hear that Portland is nice. I also hear that a LOT of young people are moving to Portland, even without jobs. Not to discourage you, just something to keep in mind.

Whatever you decide, I hope your next move makes you happier, you've seemed to sorta hate SC from the get-go.

It definitely sounds like moving on is a good idea. The Pacific Northwest has always seemed lovely to me - maybe it would be a good idea. Seattle or Portland or something. Or a smaller town with cheaper home prices.

Having lived for four years of my life somewhere that feels nothing like home, and then moving somewhere that feels EXACTLY like home, I can completely relate. It's emotionally exhausting to constantly fight against the "I hate it here" feeling. And a bad neighbourhood saps the life out of you.

I'd recommend here in Canada, too, though I'm not sure if you'd be able to immigrate. One of the school districts up here is expanding enormously...
