I did figure out a fix for the playlists problem. In addition to importing an older copy of the XML file into the iTunes folder, I had to copy an older version of the library .itl file. That gave me the playlists, which I exported and saved copies of. Then I moved the most recent library and XML files back and imported the playlists.

We pay $14.95 a month for unlimted transfers to our mp3. I would almost never actually pay for a single song, album, srtist again.

our jetta wants the ipod volume really low, and then it amplifies it all and sounds great (it has a 200 watt amp as part of the factory stereo), my truck wants the volume at maximum and then a lower volume on the stereo...it doesn't have much of an amp built in.
I guess it is all just part of finding the right balance. And most of my listening is through pc speakers or car speakers, neither of which are great platforms for listening to music.
