Life is indeed boring, when you start looking at the immediate future, and that monotony seems to drag on for the foreseeable future.

And yes, I do think that you learning Deutsch is a worthwhile pursuit although there'll be sacrifices and a lot of hair-tearing effort on your part... but only you know how much you want this. If doing a degree in a foreign language is more than an initially novel OMG SO COOL thought and you're prepared I'm sure it'll put you in good stead in the future...
