Medicine, Mortality, & Mother’s Day

So my mom’s in the hospital. Wednesday she was short of breath and called the paramedics who whisked her away to the emergency room - congestive heart failure. Bring brunch IN!

Besides, mother's day's not till next weekend, and that magic You're Released doctor may make a visit before then.

In the meanwhile, live life as fully as you can, encourage your mom to do likewise. Nothing like seeing the kidney blobs and animated hearts to realize we ARE somehow so much more than the cells and tissues and electrical impulses that house our beings so elegantly, but alas so temporarily.

My father is exactly the same...though he started the death dance when he was only 48 and had his first heart attack. "I'll die soon", "I can still work a very physical job", "doctors know nothing", "drugs will fix everything" - the hypocracy is a very human, very tragic response.

I'm glad your mom has been relatively ok for many years, and I hope that she gets that HDTV.
