Oh, beautiful! Fountains and mosaics are two of my very favorite things in this life, and those are some lovely detail photos you've captured. Though it makes me sad that the fountain is just sitting there...
Thank you for sharing (and good on you for being creative!)
How amazing! The mosaics- words cannot describe them. I'm glad you took pictures! Too bad they're not still fountains, but at least they can be admired.
Heh - unlikely, all the while as I snapped my pics, I was waiting for security to show up. In this post 9/11 world even public art must remain hidden. This does though still give me the desire to continue cataloging abandoned art - as this stuff is certainly as neglected as the dog chained in the back yard. But then, I guess that's the fate of most art to vanish with the other detritus of life, only a few works ever survive the generations.
I hope it's not condescending to tell a friend I'm proud of him.thespiceSeptember 10 2008, 03:53:11 UTC
Because I'm proud of you. I love artistic documentary. This is so bold and sneaky and beautiful. Love the pictures, the work itself, the history, your storytelling. Keep it coming.
