Ezra had been on his best behavior since being chewed out by his aunt over the summer, but that much was expected at Adessi and so he blended in just as much as he had at his old school. In his usual classes there, the low hum of hushed conversation was often present in the background just under the teacher's words, along with the sound of cellphones going off occasionally, muffled beneath hands and clothing, and tossed notes landing between the desk aisles whenever the teacher's back was turned. Here, there was only the sound of scratching pencils, coughing and sneezing now that the weather was getting colder, and the whirring of a projector or squeak of a marker on the board. If the students were restless, they kept it to themselves. The peace and quiet made it a lot easier to study and actually soak up the lessons, but it could also be tedious.
Math class was more lively than usual today, but that wasn't saying much and Ezra was starting to get antsy. It was Friday, and he was ready to be done with the week already. Sometimes, in his more bored moments, he couldn't help but wonder how much he could get away with, and today seemed like as good a day as any to tentatively toe his boundaries. Lester happened to be his victim of choice, since Ezra got the feeling the brunet would reply for as long as he kept texting. He also didn't see him getting too mad... but maybe he was assuming too much? No doubt the other was staring a little too blanky at the board wherever he was, so perhaps it would at least wake him up a bit... Feeling only slightly apologetic, Ezra opened his cellphone beneath his desk and typed out a quick message.
lester are you doing anything after class?
Belatedly, he wondered if the other had remembered to silence his phone before class started.
