Right, so I have to compile a Wish List by Friday, and after weeding out my amazon.com list, I find that I... need more ideas ( Read more... )

Barenaked Ladies - Everything to Everyone.
Anything by Todd Rundgren, seeing as it's all wonderful music.
As for reading material... have you started in on the Discworld books yet?

Thank you! I'll add them both to my list.
Erm. I did read "The Color of Magic" in August(ish), and I meant to continue in the series, but I got distracted by Neil Gaiman and then by Life.
I think we have a lot of Terry Pratchett's books, but I should check that out and see what we're missing! A complete collection of PTerry would be a very good thing indeed.

don't apologize silly gerl<3. i'm not favoring my sony either. it doesn't produce very clear photos and blehh. so, it is highly likely i wouldn't get one if i had the chance to camera purchase all over again :\. jess--get something high quality, even if you have to shell out money, cos it'll be worth it. i want to see a wealth of nyc pics! <3

awww, but I do like all the funky effects you showed us at camp... crazy negative art and such. I also love how it shows movement (like Nessa bouncing on the bed!).
so no sony, then?
and I would of course show you nyc pics, though they'd probably be crap! ;) (are you going to black friday reunion?)

Yay! thank you! I love the pictures you post. I'll write down the name and try to make cute faces in my parents' general direction... ;)

Oooh, yay! Thank you! I've heard of all of those (except The Eels, I think), but I don't have any of their music. Any specific album recommendations?

Mmm, Hugh Grant! I have him in "Bridget Jones' Diary" and he is delightful. I love his accent.

Canon digital cameras are, IMO, best value for money. I think mine was about $350, although I ended up paying more, since I bought an extra 64MB CompactFlash card (it came with a 16MB one) and extra batteries and such.

But it's a damn good digital camera, much cheaper than comparable-quality ones of other brands. You might be able to find an older model, especially used, for less, but in general I'd be wary of cheap digital cameras from other companies.

I'll try to make you a mix CD, though I don't know when I'll actually get it done.

Canon. Thank you! I'll write it down. I think my parents would want to buy a new camera (they have issues with Used Things, except for books -- I'd rather just go for what's cheaper), but the more value for their money, the better.

I don't know why, but I never looked into it and automatically assumed digital cameras were about $100. I wish I'd figured this out before graduation last year, because graduation is a bigger deal than Chanukah. Oh well...

Oh, I wish. If you look really hard, you can find $100 digital cameras, but they frankly suck. I'd say $250-$350 minimum for a good one. Looking for sales is always worthwhile, too!

I wouldn't worry about used digital cameras, if I were your parents -- they're likely to have been replaced because the owner got a newer/fancier model, not because there's anything wrong with them. As far as I know, digital cameras hold up pretty well if treated decently.

Hmmm, okay. I mean, I know nothing about photography, but I do want a semi-decent camera to begin with. So I'll skip the $100 crappy ones.

Now it looks like I should focus on either asking for a digital camera or a MP3 player. Ahhh, the dilemma! ;) (I feel spoiled, except I know I probably won't end up getting either one. I'll just have to decide what *I* want to start saving for. It's going to take a long time to reach $350 when I only make $30 a week.)

Music: Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Beethoven's Last Night" or Wallflowers' "Bringing Down the Horse". I could recommend a lot more since I am Teh Music Whore but I don't want ramble so if you want more just ask.

DVD: Possession, The Man Who Cried, Enemy at the Gates. Am also a movie whore so I can give you more if those aren't to your liking or mayhaps you already have them. (Good thing I'm not an English major).

Books: I'd make some recommendations but I think you've read a lot of my favorite books as they are classics. Oooooo wait! I know! I lurv "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" by James Patterson.

And I shall make many a cd mix because you are the first person to openly request a mix. Mreh! I shall no longer be a mixtapevirgin. *gets all teary-eyed* Jess, I lurv you! *secret molestications*

Yeah so I said I wouldn't ramble but here I am doing just that. Wow, a blue car... look over there! *escapes through the back door*

Thank you!

And hey, the more recommendations, the merrier. I will probably have to cut down my final List of DOOM before presenting it to my parents so they don't think I'm a greedy whore, but I can always have an Alternate Version prepared for next year. Mwahaha!

YOU'RE GIVING ME YOUR MIXTAPE VIRGINITY?! *wipes tear from eye* Winter, this is an honor I'm not sure I wholly deserve! You are TOO sexy sweet.
