everyone's cancelled!

Alexa sent me a list of some of her favorite quotes, which cheer me up even though she has a snow day and I do not.

Not sure how I feel about this whole "real life" thing.

Mostly Good Omens quotes, with some Neverwhere and ROTK tossed in for good measure )

We weren't cancelled, we took exams. So don't worry.

Thank you for the quotes. Made me happy. And I was able to resist the urge to translate them all into French, in order to make up for the fact that I should have been studying for my language exam...

Ack! That doesn't sound like much fun. How much snow did you get? Our local school was cancelled for the day, and my friends aren't really happy about it because it just means they'll have to make up the exams.

I used to do that too before language exams -- everything I read, I'd try to translate. Actually, I still do that subconsciously, but my language skills have deteriorated so much that when I start focusing on my translations I get depressed. (Good luck on the test!!)

'Éowyn, Éowyn!' he cried at last. 'Éowyn, how come you here? What madness or devilry is this? Death, death, death! Death take us all!'

Then without taking cousel or waiting for the approach of the men of the City, he spurred headlong back to the front of the great host, and blew a horn, and cried aloud for the onset. Over the field rang his clear voice calling: 'Death! Ride, ride to ruin and world's ending!'

That is one of my ultimate favorite LotR quote. Ever.

Oh! I'm reading Neverwhere wow. I'm only enough in to understand the first 2 quotes. I stopped reading when I realized I didn't know anymore. Don't want to ruin the surprise. :)

I love that quote too. I really hope we see some more Eomer/Eowyn interaction in the extended edition of ROTK, because they're two of my favorite characters. I love the Rohirrim.

Good for you for not spoiling yourself! Sorry, I should've put some kind of warning. I'm always really bad about spoiling myself for things, and it takes a great deal of Self-Resolve not to click behind those LJ-cuts! ;)

Neverwhere is wonderful, my older sister Lauren is reading it now. Neil Gaiman tells such wonderful stories.

*g* Aw, I should reread Good Omens again. How could I forget the Magic of Neil and Terry?

Yes yes! I want to reread it this spring too, and I'll type up any other fabulous parts Alexa might've missed. So wonderful!
