So, Cenotype is on hold indefinitely. I had one of my worst nightmares realized last night.
I have been playing with two stage configurations for almost 4 years now (1 for Life Cried & 1 for Cenotype). The stage config with Life Cried has been:
(1) 2-tiered x-stand:
+ 1st tier = keyboard & audio interface
+ 2nd tier = laptop
We had a "surprise" Life Cried show last night at Boulevard in NYC. Das Ich was supposed to play, but they were held up by US customs (big shock), so we were asked to pay in their place.
During sound check, I noticed that the stage was a flimsy, bouncy mess of plywood (pretty standard shitty night club- grade stage). Under this flimsy mess of plywood were the bass cabinets.
Here's a formula to help you understand why I almost killed myself last night:
A ) Bass + crappy plywood stage = Massive vibration
B) Massive vibration + metal keyboard stand + metal Powerbook = Load vibration/ slippage
C) Load vibration + gravity = Lenny's laptop being fucking destroyed by the sudden stop at the end of the fucking free fall that my laptop took from the shitty fucking stage!!
I am so angry/ depressed/ despondent/ _insert any borderline-suicidal adjective here_
I will probably have to cancel my performance here:
I was set to play as Cenotype, but also as a live member of NTT again. This is Leech's final show, so it's extra fucking special that I will, most-likely, not be able to perform.
I do have Apple Care, but I've already checked with Apple and it does not cover accident, acts of Jebus, terrorism, etc... so I am screwed on that front (good thing I paid that extra $400, right?).
Also, for how much I fucking love my Mac notebook, what the fuck is the idea behind having to manually change system settings to connect an external display??
What about cases, like mine, where the display dies or falls off of a fucking stage and you can not see said display to change above-mentioned display settings??
I am screwed. I obviously have to pull money that doesn't really exist out of my ass to get this replaced, but Apple also explicitly states that it is not responsible for data loss from repair.
So, now I have to back up my data to an external drive, but... yeah, you guessed it. I can not connect an external display so I can not see a hard drive icon, nor the data that I need to back up!!@@#%^&
FUCK!
