However.
The white house cannot do this thing.
The white house, which is to say, the president, cannot make laws, any more (or any less) than you and I can. The president can write a proposed law, for this, but it has to go through congress.
And you know this, I know you do.
I do not disagree that this would be a good thing. The is no right to privacy in the execution of public duties (such as police work). Or so it seems to me. But the mechanics for getting this done are not as simple as all that.
