Sailormoonland "Distant Worlds" Fic Challenge! Part 2
Here is a second composition I'm doing for a fic challenge at sailormoonland !
This composition will probably be written in a series of 4 or 5 parts with 4 or 5 prompts. Here is the first installment for now, and I might add to this post later if I continue the plot...
Different plots will be posted in different posts. I will not post each of the 20 prompts as a single entry so as to not spam the F Page.

Summary: Back story on Setsuna and the Gates of Time...
Flow of Time
Pluto. At closest, twenty-nine astronomical units from the Earth and perpetually negative two-hundred-thirty degrees Celsius. One half of the planet in eternal lightness, the other, plagued by eternal darkness. It was at this division that Meiou Setsuna stood, at the Gates of Time, forever burdened by her duty.
She was not to leave her post - not even if the Princess she served was in peril.
It was a lonely time, but Setsuna didn’t mind. It was her job after all, and she was awakened solely for this task. She had spent eons on this isolated piece of rock and ice, and had not been visited by a single soul.
Yet she was young and beautiful, and in love. However, she pushed that thought to the back of her mind and continued scanning the horizon for any inconsistencies.
The coldness sent shivers down her spine and a memory awakened of Pluto’s origins. After she had come into existence, brought by Queen Selenity, the Queen gave Setsuna her assignment:
She ordered Pluto to guard the Gates of Time above all else - above her and Pluto’s own life. Should something go awry, there was no telling what misfortune would befall them.
“First, you may not cross time…”
Pluto nodded, she understood.
“Second, you can never leave the door you must protect…”
Setsuna had already agreed to this.
“The third thing you must not do:” Selenity cautioned, “You must never stop time. If you ever violate that law, you will give up your life.”
Setsuna’s eyes grew wide, and Selenity bid her a final farewell and she was transported to the Gates.
“You will have a castle with attendants. Should something happen to the gates, there is no need to contact me. We will all feel the effects instantly.” Those were the last words Setsuna had ever heard from anyone…
True, Setsuna did have a full staff ready to wait on her at any given time, as she was of royal blood, but she felt no need to burden them and naturally, she spent all of her time away from the castle at the Gates.
In the earlier days, the servants offered to bring her things such as books to ease the time, but she always refused, and the servants soon understood they were of no use to their Princess.
It was her duty to guard the Gates of Time with her life - and hers alone.

Summary: Setsuna wonders what lies beyond the gates she is protecting so fiercely...
Realms Beyond
Setsuna pressed her spine against the cool stone wall and felt its patterns etch into her back. She sighed.
Nothing was ever going to change… Occasionally, she would see a few comets in the night sky, but that was it. She spent her time mapping constellations in her head and hoping that her Queen was protected. She was doing right by standing guard for all of time.
In fact, Setsuna wondered what lie behind the gates she guarded with her life. Embarrassed, she hung her head a little bit and dug her heels into the soft soil. Perhaps Selenity did not even know.
Setsuna could only imagine, but whatever it was, it was a realm beyond her own.
