While cellos can "open up" like mine has been doing, they cannot change to met the changing needs of a performer.

A person can change. However, every person changes differently, and the differences sometimes result in incompatability. We do not need to find the "perfect" person for us, but we do need to find a person who will help us to change into what we want to be, and will change in a similar way, without becoming incompatable.
