Countdown and Soukon

This is a bit late, but I wanted to write something about Johnny's Countdown and Soukon episode 8.

Some highlights from Johnny's Countdown 2009-2010:

- I learned new things about the older groups. All of V6 can still do backflips - cool! TOKIO sang as a vocal group as well as a band. KinKi Kids' Tsuyoshi looked like he was either really stoned or had his soul locked up somewhere else. Tackey (oh all right everybody calls him that nowadays anyway) ...was on stage flying and splashing water like last year.
- I'm glad Ryo got to sing with NEWS though he was in Osaka with Eito. And the Eito boys were being good sports by being all cheery in the background.
- Jin, on the other hand, was not a good sport. He seemed to be trying to be cool or funny by not doing the choreography of NEWS' Kibou ~Yell~ (and not even singing till the end) during the song exchange like the rest of KAT-TUN, but he only came across as arrogant. Really, the more I see the guy the more he annoys the crap out of me.
- Toma was strikingly good-looking.
- Kame, Massu and Uchi dressed in hakama since it's their zodiac sign this year (Tiger), and Massu inserted some tiger-related puns. Roar?
- Arashi was great, all smiles the whole time and did an awesome job in their song exchange (watch and learn, Jin). In my opinion they are definitely the most immediately likeable among all the groups. Sukiyanen, Arashi!

And now for Soukon episode 8.

Back in episode 2 the boys did a 4x100 meter relay, but they failed to reach the record of elementary school girls, LOL. Shige, as the most athletically challenged member, fared the worst in his 100 meter run. So in this episode they gave him a special (and scary) coach to train him to run faster. He showed in this episode just why he earned the place as my favorite in NEWS and all of Johnny's. Everybody knows Shige fails a lot and he has many weaknesses but he still fights on and tries to do his best, no matter how limited the result may be.

The target he was aiming for in the 100 meter run was 14 seconds, and I'm telling you, I was so scared he wasn't going to make it because they were playing Daniel Powter's Bad Day as the background song. Is that a bad sign or what? Even Koyategomassu looked nervous. But to everybody's delight, he made it. This sounds cheesy but I was so proud of him, and I'm sure the other members were too. They ended the episode by showing a shot of Shige shedding some manly tears on national TV once again, cause the bit we saw in 24 hour TV last year just wasn't enough, apparently. XD

tv show, news, shige
