Yay for Forrest! I LOVE cruel intentions, but true, it's one of the worst (best?) guilty pleasures out there. As for your slightly philosophical questions in which I am more than happy to contribute my 2 cents:

1a. People are selfish when they are aware that they are thinking of only their own goals. If they are not aware, they would be considered ignorant.

1b. People think about others 24-7. These can be good or bad thoughts, subconscious or not, and can even occur when being selfish.

2. Communication should be required from both parties for sex. That or an innate ability to read eachother's body language and/or "signs"

*hugs* hope your feeling better btw!

FYI, the only reason i read the second half was because the word sex was in it more than once.
yeah, i know i'm a great person.
i want to see cruel intentions, but as for the questions you asked:
i don't think anything has to be there for people to have sex. everyonne has their own personal ideas about who should have sex, when, etc. i don't like the idea of prostitution, but that's not going to make it go away. ditto with pornography, but people either get a rush from it or just plain 'ol need the money.

blah, i lost my point.......
maybe i never had one.
i just saw sex in your post.
the end.

It's okay for a guy to like Cruel Intentions. While true it may appear a guilty pleasure remember this as reassurance of your guy-dom -

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon are hot.

guy-dom stabilized.
