The Voyage Of The Endurance

Now that I am on a real computer and can type out the whole thing. This is a bit longer than would be ideal, I think, but there's so many exciting bits to the story! I noticed while typing it out that I start a lot of lines with "But..."; not sure if that's something I should try to remedy or just a natural result of the format ( Read more... )

Ha, good point. Mostly I was thinking that it was long to sing at Chantey Sing Night, but it turned out to be entirely reasonable.

Well, I wanted to make it clear that I was referring to the song as delightful, rather than the circumstances (so freezing and perilous! Poor Shackleton!) but I was undercaffinated and less-than coherent.

I so would love to hear this sung though!

Ahh, gotcha! I think it works better when sung, because there's more inflection to it (it is, for instance, easier to convey the sense of "oh, come on, REALLY?" that I think Shackleton's party must have felt when they finally landed on South Georgia Island and realized they'd have to hike another 17 miles over uncharted mountains to get where they were going.) So I will try and record it sometime this week.
