well, i wented to boarding (art) skool, but that was like, 3 months or less at a tiem.
then i moved up here and the trips home got fewer and farther between as i got busy here with my own life. for a while it was down to once a year but mah mommeh has informed me that is not acceptable and maeks her cry. so i go in summer and xmas now.
fuel prices are slacking back a bit. the airlines were actually pretty smaht in charging for extra bags IMO rather than hiking their rates through the roof. I travel light though.
i wanted to see them twice this year, but it just isn't going to happen... i agree that having great friends helps, i would be a mess without my friends!
i'm sure some of you have to go long stretches of time without seeing your loved ones... how do you cope?.. do you get used to barely seeing them?..
I'm down to seeing my parents two - maybe three - times a year; my brother, even less. BUT, we talk on the phone almost once a week, for at least a half an hour. And my parents send me little care packages (still), and we exchange emails too.
It doesn't replace seeing them in person - nothing can, but that constant contact keeps them in my day-to-day doings and thoughts, and that's better than nothing =)
hmm... you have a point.. i should try to do a better job of staying in touch... both me and the family get busy in our day to day and just don't think to call... i should definitely email my mum more... she loves email... ^_^
Heh, when I was in undergrad and living in the dorm, my parents told me NOT to call - email instead, it was cheaper. We didn't get along then nearly as well as we do now. I think it was that whole absence makes the heart grow fonder nonsense ;)
It can be kinda tough sometimes, and I hate to say it but I have gotten a little used to it myself. Maybe, if you're too broke to travel, could they come up here? I dunno if their financial situation is any better, but it's a thought.
my family's all over the place...bluemadusaAugust 12 2008, 16:45:19 UTC
I can go north and see my family...or I can go west and see my sister....there has been none of that though...traveling is just too expensive when your broke :(
I do try and stay in touch...call when I can...email when I think of it. My mom loves email too :)

i hear ya on that one! even to drive down to FL is almost at expensive as a plane ticket!
i might get a break if my dad has enough frequent flyer miles to get me a ticket... so i've got my fingers crossed on that one...
